Delhi High Court: In defamation and suit for injunction filed by Dera Sacha Sauda head, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh against YouTuber Shyam Meera Singh regarding a video posted by Shyam Singh on his YouTube channel, Manoj Jain, J. Directed Shyam Singh to delete the tweets against Gurmeet Ram Rahim.

Shyam Meera Singh uploaded a video alleging that Ram Rahim fooled his followers; the Dera Sacha Sauda chief says the video is defamatory and disparaging.

Senior Advocate Mohit Mathur, also appearing for Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, told the court that the video remaining available on YouTube would damage the reputation of his client.

However, the YouTuber told the court that his video was based on a 2018 book by journalist Anurag Tripathi, who has not been made a party to the case.

It was also submitted that despite being aware of the fact that the present suit was filed, there are several tweets from Shyam Singh that are not only objectionable but highly contemptuous in nature. The Court directed Shyam Singh to delete the tweets on the day of the order itself.

The matter was further listed for heading on 04-01-2024.
